Circle time is an important time of the school day. We learn about each other, sing songs and read exciting stories. We also do activities in accordance with our theme of the month. Each day we have one main activity, such as music, art, board games, gym and nature walks. We ask you kindly to drop off your child before 9 o'clock. It is important that they settle in before we start our activity for the day.
Supervised free play is designed to encourage the children to explore a variety of activities and help them socialize with other children. We stress the importance of social development – learning to take turns, share etc. Free play includes puzzles, games, age-appropriate toys and sensory activities such as play-dough.
The class is separated during specific times in the day, so that the preschoolers can focus on age-appropriate concepts such as colors, shapes, letters and numbers 1-10.
Outdoor play on the playground is an important part of our day throughout the school year. Children will therefore need clothing to suit all weather conditions. We go outside twice a day - in the morning and afternoon. Time outside is reduced only during extreme weather conditions.
Children are not required to be toilet trained. However, if you have begun toilet training at home, please inform us - we are happy to help. Sleep is optional for toddlers (1-2 hours, depending on each child’s needs). Children must sleep in prams outside - in the fresh air they sleep better and longer. Parents are asked to bring a pram, sleeping bag, rain cover and insect net.
